German Chocolate Cake

After adding more items to my products list on Friday, I knew that next up were cakes.  I decided to give German chocolate cake a test run this afternoon.  After I had the icing almost fished,  I found a bakery in Texas on line who had a similar icing recipe tested to see if it was potentially hazardous according to the Texas Cottage Food Law.  Unfortunately, the recipe they had tested was very similar to the one I made today and it tested as potentially hazardous. So, this particular one is out.  The good news is that they had a different recipe that tested safe according to the Texas Cottage Food Law with a few substitutions.  A super PLUS to finding the recipes this baker had tested was that I found that they had one of my go-to cream cheese icing recipes tested and it tested non-potentially hazardous.  WAAAAAHOOOO!!!   This is awesome news because I finally feel like I can add some cakes to the products I sell.  Watch for those additions to our products to be coming soon!!!  German Chocolate Cake will definitely be on the list as long as I use the alternative non-potentially hazardous recipe.  The cake that I made was SUPER moist and is definitely a keeper!  However, my kids DID NOT like the Coconut Pecan Frosting!   I loved it.  Who LOVES German Chocolate Cake???
